I can get a rear end out of a 98+ Z28 for nothing. It has 3.23's in it. RPO code GU5. I have 3.08's right now. First, is the z28 LSD, and how much difference will I notice from my crappy 3.08's??

the LSD will be noticeable, the 3.23s won't help too much - 3.42s are a far better choice for the money.
But 3.23 is better than nothing, especially with the limited slip if it isnt worn out.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

There's no way to tell if it's a LSD until you take apart, or you can find the code on the axle, and decode it.
As to the 3.23s, it will make a noticeable difference. When I had my 95 (3.4) Camaro, I looked at a 2000 Camaro. When I was getting onto the freeway to test drive the 2000, I noticed that it was slower than my 3.4, and then I found out about the 3.08s in the base Camaros.
Basically, if my 3.4 with 3.23s was quicker than a base 3.8 with 3.08s, you should notice a pretty good difference.Wife and a dog, they both think they\'re Kujo.<br /> <br />1999 3.8 A4 Y87<br />Navy Blue Metallic<br />BFG G-Force KDWS 275/40/17s, <br />WS6 Wheels (17x9)<br />Phoenix Transmissions 2400 Stall Converter<br />FRA, Holley Powershot filter, Whisper Lid, Ported Throttlebody<br />2000 manifolds, Flowmaster, WS6 Tail Pipes, <br />MSD 8.5mm Wires, MSD Coils, Autolite plugs<br />Performance Cryogenics treated rotors<br />1LE Sway Bars and panhard rod, 1LE front springs w/SLP Bilsteins, stock rear springs w/ 3rd Gen Bilsteins, BMR STB, KBDD SFCs, 1LE rear lower control arms, 1LE front lower control arms<p>1968 Chevelle Malibu 327 TH350
