  • Please help! Vibration problem.

I have a really annoying vibration problem at 55-65 mph. The vibration is in the steering wheel, and in the floor of the car. I have two sets of rims and tires. With the 225/60 16 tires the vibration starts at 65 and is hardly noticable. With the 245/50 16's the vibration starts at 55 and is very noticable by 65. Braking and acceleration have no effect on it.

I have had the tires re-balanced many times. rotating the tires doesn't help, and running the car up to 80mph with the backend in the air produced a wierd vibration at 35mph, but it went away at 40, and was smooth till 80mph.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Suspension would be my guess.....try posting in there. How many miles are on the car and have you changed your shocks/springs since you bought it?

If your tires are all balanced then try your driveshaft, if thers any kinda dent in it it will give a ya a vibration.

Crappy Suspension wouldn't cause a vibration.

The suspension is all new, sway bars, shocks, and springs. I was thinking about switching back to my steel driveshaft, but why would it vibrate at 35mph with the the car in the air, and at 55 when its on the ground?

Check your tires for bald spots. I had the same problem and vibrations would get real bad at around 80 mph. You can see a bald spot real easy when you take it to balance... and they rotate it on that machine. Balancing helped a little too but didnt get rid of it.

          Solution: New tires :D

get your driveshaft balanced possibly could help it. This is a one piece I take it? Two pieces usually won't vibrate since the 2-piece was designed to reduce the vibrations that one piece driveshafts have.
