  • 3.42 or 3.73?

I have complete intake, exhaust, and some ignition and now its time to get these 3.08's off. I am going to get lsd and either 3.42 or 3.73 as my next mod. I dont know which one to get. I have an automatic and i do probably 60% of my driving on the highway. Someone posted a whiole back that it was proven that our cars are faster with 3.42 instead of 3.73. Which one should i get? Wouldnt the rpm at 70 be pretty high with 3.73? 2500+?

3.42's, Thats what I have and I love them. Now with the ability to tune it properly you could go up to a 3.73 gear but, I wouldn't. It can make up to a 5 mpg loss from 3.42 to 3.73's(driver dependent). That comes to almost 80 miles less per tank, So you decide. Both are great gears.

If you are making a car primarily for the drag strip then 3.73's or 4.10's.

If you want a good daily driver gear and a good gear for the strip then go 3.42's.
