  • Auto trans shifting

I just bought the car. 96 camaro, 3.8 auto.

The first to second shift seems slow (It reminds me of my fathers 94 GMC halfton, his truck shifts the same way) Is this normal? Almost feels like a slight trans slip...

By slow I mean it seems to lag, no clunk, just revs up maybe an extra 100rpm before it hits second. On a full throttle pull away it does fine though, perfect shift. I notice this behavior mostly in the city and once in a while on a pull away in the country.

I am thinking about changing the fluid, as I do not know when the the previous owner last changed it. If I do change it what is the fluid capacity of the trans? (I already have the filter and gasket, just need to pick up the fluid)
