if you have diagnosed correctly and you need to replace carrier side bearings, you might as well do a complete rear-end rebuild. it's all gotta come apart anyway. might as well spend a few extra bucks and recondition the whole assembly while its apart. new bearings all around, new seals. inspect gears. re-set clearances and run a pattern to make sure its set back up correctly.

A carrier bearing is part of the driveshaft. It has nothing to do with the rearend. In this particualer vehicle the carrier bearing cannot be replaced and a new driveshaft is needed. you might be thinking of the driveshaft center support bearing used on models with the 2-pc driveshaft. but the question was about a differential carrier bearing, which is located inside the rear differential housing assembly.ASE Master, L1, X1, C1.
