Both rear wheels will spin as opposed to one, essentially. There's a little more to it, but that's the jist of it.2001 Onyx Black Camaro M5-Totalled
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L

\"To make peace, prepare for war.\"

this is good so when u peel out, there are 2 tire marks, not one its kinda like all wheel drive vs rear wheels drive like hehe, without posi, only the rear right has the power, with posi, both have the power to move the car... (more traction)

Posi = Positraction which was Chevrolet's trade name for their Limited Slip Differential. I think they stopped calling it that sometime in the 1980's.
A Limited Slip Differential has a cluch between the rear axles. This clutch is always engaged but is designed to have some slip to it because when going around corners the outside wheel has to turn faster than the inside wheel. (Thats why cars have differentials.) A regular differential does not have this clutch.
When one wheel (usually the right wheel) starts to spin, the LSD clutch will transmit some torque to the other wheel so the car will be able to accelerate faster and spin less.
Generally this is good if you want better acceleration.
The downsides are that on wet roads you can fishtail if you lose traction. Rear tire life might be less because if the LSD is tight the tires can slip a little when cornering. Also, they will eventually wear out; which is no big deal because then the car will act like it doesn't have a LSD.
Hope this will help2002 Camaro Coupe
Navy Blue, A4, Y87
Whisper Lid, Raised Air Box
SLP Bow-Tie Grill, HPP3

Actually from what I understand, LSD's like the Zexel-Torsen are not clutch-type posi's that will wear out over time.2001 Onyx Black Camaro M5-Totalled
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L

\"To make peace, prepare for war.\"
