  • 3.73 gears??

My buddy with an NHRA Edition formula is basically giving me these gears, Richmonds I think. How much would these benefit my car? I don't know too much about that kinda sh*t, though I am going to read all about it in my Haynes manual tonight! Should I even put 'em on the car? I was going to wait to change them 'till after I modded it a bit more, but hey ... I got 'em now, and they were basically free!! Thanks guys!

id say look around for a SLP takeoff LSD also, and get them both installed at once.

despite what people tell you, gears are hard to do. there are miniscule measurments that must be done, and they have to be dont perfect or they will mess up. install for both the LSD and gears should be about 200-300.

but yes, keep the 3.73's. they will make a big difference in your car

3.73s are where it's at. i just upgraded from 3.23s.

i will post timeslips tomorrow night... i expect to go from a 14.9 to a 14.6 or better- weather is supposed to be super duper, especially for this area and this time of the year :D

I got .7 from gears on a stock car. 3.42= 15.7, 4.10s= 15.0. It's definitely a great mod. Don't listen to what firefighter says. He doesn't know much.

Dude are you serious? Going from 3.08's to 3.42's and an LSD can net a car .5 easily.. .3 is definitely not out of the question going from 3.23 to 3.73's I'm personally thinking of jumping to 4.10's from 3.42's once I get my engine project done in a year or two..

i went from 14.9 to 14.6 with just lsd and 3.73s. i had 3.23 stock. i really think you can do what i did. no matter if firefighter thinks its impossible. i have the timeslips to proove it.

hell ya you can improve your times with gears, gears don't affect the hp but it does put more torque to the ground

check the timeslip section... i gained about 4 tenths going from 3.23s to 3.73s, and that was ALL in the 1/8th.

i'm starting to see the truth in the "losing top end" argument because the car fell flat on its face in 4th... i'm hoping to make better use of these gears when the cam and headers go in next week.
