It is about that time, and I would like to do it myself. My questions are:
What all do I need to do it?
Is it hard to do?
Should I just take it to someone to do it?
I always wanna learn something new and I'm cheap so rebuilding it myself seems like a possibly good idea.

I would take it to someone.
You really only need to replace what is worn, but I would replace all the clutches, the band, converter, gaskets, etc.
Mine was about $1100
