    Well, the rear end I ended up with has a bent axle I was told. I have had this ungodly rattle and my brakes were squeaking. I replaced the rear brakes Saturday. It squeaked immidiately. I also re adjusted the springs in hope that would solve my rattle. I went to a different shop, and they said my wheel was going up and down when I had it in gear on the lift. Would this cause my rear brakes to "Move" ? What I mean is they only grab the rotor half of what they should. If you look at the brake pads, they wear at an angle. Also, the emergency brake pad thing, that looks like a circle with the bottom cut out rattles bad. It wont seat all they way like it should. If you do, the rotor will not go on. They (new shop) told me my shock was probobly broken on that side, I think it is the e-brake assembly. It is so bad, you think that the stabalizer bar is hanging. What do you all think? Also, can I drive the car without the e brake pads and the part that holds them without messing anything up? I want to see if it fixes the noise back there.

    did you get it from a salvage yard and do you know if it was crashed? I don't know much about axles but if all that stuff is wrong it might be better just to get your parts off the axle and remove it and take it back. Don't you get like a 30 day return for bad parts?

    I think you did it yourself right, if so that might be easier. If you paid a couple hundred for install maybe replacing the shock and calipers and rotors might be cheaper. I was told bent pistons on the calipers or very warped rotors could cause that kind of uneven wear, but if your axle is severely bent it is putting stress and a different angle at that point causing the wear.

      Jessica;

      I have done a few axle swaps on my old truck. 85 bronco 2, swapped in a 7.5" 8.8" and a solid dana 44 front. 14" of lift, it was a great toy. For both instances the rear axles had a bent axle shaft. To check this, raise the rear axle off the ground so that the tires spin freely. Then rotate each rear tire, the one that is whabbly is the culprit. Next remove the tire and see if it continuse to be wabbly. Then remove everything to the axle itself and see if it wabbles while you turn it, if it does replace the axle shaft, if not theres something wrong with one the pieces that you removed, probably the rotor. The axle shaft through west coast differential should be around 110$ it will be 25% stronger than the stock one so its a good upgrade anyway. Please post info on your findings.

        Yea, a bent axle shaft. THe tire raised and lowered as it was rotating in the air. I am going to take the one out of my old rear end and put it in tomorrow, I will let you know if it stopped the rattles too. I sure hope so.

          I forgot that you still had your old axle assembly, that will be very easy to swap in the new shaft. Have fun. No parts cost for you cool.

            well that was easy. Took awhile to get the axle keeper out with the LSD springs in the way. No more noise, cleared the wole thing up. My e-brake works again. Cool. I think I might start to like my car again.
