ok... i have had gears in for over a year with a Jet SCU2000. Last night my speedo stopped working. I turned off the car and set the SCU to stock gear 0 and modified 0 and it went alright. I then noticed i was hitting rev limiter at WOT. today i noticed that the shifts were REALLY hard and jerky. Now my SES light just came on. What up with this? Any suggestions?

I just reset the SCU back to stock 3 mod 5 and the shifts are back to normal. i am on my lunch break right now and dont have time to reset the PCM. I will do that tonight and see if the code comes back. If it does I will get it scanned.

My first piece of advice is to get rid of the SCU2000, they are known to grenade transmissions.

It's not a slipping tranny.. the problem is the Jet SCU..
it corrects speedo but does not fix shift points..
Say with 3.08 gears you shift at 42mph around 5900 RPM's.... if you put in 3.42 gears and make your speedo accurate with the Jet SCU, your PCM will wait for that 42mph to shift... but for you to reach 42mph with a 3.42 gear you have to do around 6100 RPM's or so.. but you'll hit the rev limiter at 6000 or so..
Catch my drift?

Yea... I know that that is true. That is why with the SCU I dont have it set completely accurately so that I shift before redline. I set the stock gear ratio to 3 and modded ratio to 5 and the same thing with the tire size. By pushing the tire size off a little it can let the car shift off of redline. SO my speedo is now about 1-2% off ( give or take... I had a friend drive next to me at 50 mph and it was just a little off, no where near as much as without it.
Anyway, everything is all good now...
