I had read in Ian's review, that he figured out how to use the supplied washers. Also, is using washers to raise the trans an acceptable method, if I use fatty washers. I need this info, the mount is shot, and due to the fact that the trans is down about 3/4 of an inch, I have a huge crack in the console. Darn.

Raiderman, i did not use the washers to raise the mount up any. The Energy Suspension mount i got sits flat on the tranny crossmember. I dont like the idea of a mount raised up on just washers, mainly because when the drivetrain torques, the tranny and engine all rotate slightly. With the mount up on washers, and not flat on the crossmember, you have like 10% of the surface area that the company intended. This torquing on just washers allows the trans to move, and i think that eventually either the mount or the bolt that holds the mount down will break.
I dont have a problem with vibration at all, despite everyone saying "the mount will lower your transmission and your driveshaft will be out of alignment." This isnt the case for me.
I used the washers on the bottom of the trans crossmember, not between the mount and the crossmember.

anyway to the original poster, don't raise the tranny with washers between the crossmember and mount that's just a major problem waiting to happen, either do like Ian said or get some large flat plates made up, when measuring I found the diff between the stock mount and aftermarket (both 1le and poly) to be 1/2". So you want to raise the tranny back up 1/2" after using an aftermarket (or non v6 for that matter) mount.-Brad

I drilled the hole bigger for perfect alignment and also raised the tranny about 1/2 inch and it has no vibrations whats so ever.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....
