why is an open diff. so bad and an lsd so great? you can get two tire marks when doing burnouts, isnt changing gears what makes a noticeable difference? you get an lsd to get better traction, but wont you lose traction easier in the rain and such? i was thinking seriously about getting an lsd, but was informed without traction control, it would be dangerous in rain and snow.
You'll have a harder time breaking traction with the LSD, but when you do it'll be more "violent". Open diffs have a tendency to try to keep the car straight, unlike the LSD.
But to say it's more dangerous in the rain is a bit of a stretch.

Its not...
you are less likely to break the rear loose but when you do, it is more violent.
Trust me it is alot better, accelerating out of corners and such the car just feels so much better. The car feels much better in driving, even beyond just launching.

shenanigans, you had 3.42 gears, did you recalibrate your speedo? i was thinking about swapping out the complete rear end from a newer z-28 or trans am that had 3.42 gears. i think it would be cheaper and i could have disc brakes all around too. decisions decisions, my lists of future mods is always getting longer.
no speedo was slightly off... since I had a 5-speed, no shift point problems.
though the odometer will read miles faster then normal... but I didn;t care my 3.4L already had like 115k miles at the time.
Was the best mod I ever did for my 3.4L
