  • roaring noise comming from right rear

im not sure if this is the place to post this but it looked close enough,
i got a roaring noise comming from the right rear of my firebird when im crusing and when i give it gas, im suspecting a bad wheel bearing or it just needs to be repacked, anyone else had this problem or have heard of anything similar? thanks

could be a bad bearing; bad news is that our wheel bearings are not serviceable.

You can change out the bearing for 20-30$ depending if you go timken and do the work yourself. You will also need a bearing puller, and pull the right rear axle shaft out to get to it. Its a little bit of work but you should be able to do it. You will also need to change diff fluid and cover gasket. Heres a site that I shop for diff parts and accessories...

good deal, the best thing about it tho is i bought the car used from a dealership too, so i get a 1 month warranty on it so ill make them fix it, when i got it, it had the noise, but i wasnt used to GM cars, and i didnt know if it were the tires or not either, but after people riding with me that been in other firebirds, they noticed it too, so i guess ill just take it back up there and get them to look at it.

Oh and another thing that i should get looked at is the fuel gauge, its kinda irratic, depending on how i drive, the needle will fluctuate, but i had already ran out of gas once and the needle was barely at the E point....is this normal or is there a service bulletin or something on this? thanks

OMG I have the same exact sound but it only happens when I coast (let off the gas).
