OK I unbolted everything I could thing of from the Torque arm and Rear Housing. I know you need to slide the shaft forward but how the heck do you get it to move??

if you have the driveshaft unbolted from the rear (4 bolts) and the center joint unbolted from the torque arm (2 nuts), then just drop the rear half of the shaft off of the rear, get that center joint off of the torque arm, and slide it out of the transmission.

make sure the BACK of the car is jacked up, or else you will get a mouthfull of tranny fluid when you pull the slip yoke out.

ok the torque arm is off the car now, all the bolts are removed from the shaft into the the rear end, and its still not coming out. i sprayed some pb blaster on the rear end u joint thinking it is rusted in there, so if it doesn't play nice tomorrow i'm going to have to beat it out!

Which part is not coming out? Sometimes it gets stuck in the trans real bad. I couldn't get it out of this one car at all. Get a strong friend to try.

Strange- after I unbolted the girdles on the rear yolk, the driveshaft practically hit me on the head. Mine was a one-piece, but it should be the same on the rear. Try smacking the end of the u-joint cup on the rear with a hammer, it can get rusted to the yolk sometimes.

yea, hit it with a no-bounce hammer, or a regular hammer with a towell wrapped around it

Ok the rubber malet didn't work but I'll try again in the morning when I don't have to worry about waking people up.

Puting it in neutral didn't do anything except let the shaft turn.

If the malet doesn't work tomorrow. I'm cutting the damn thing into two pieces.

FINALLY GOT THE F'IN THING OFF!!!!! I ended up using a wrench like wasjo said but i also had to smack the u joints a couple times b/c they were still semi stuck. Took me about 2 hrs to get the old two piece off and about 2 mins to put the new aluminum one in. Funny how that works
