  • Does anybody have lock-up problems with a stalled torque converter?

    Yeah...
After I rebuilt my tranny my car went to sh*t so I am guessing my converter is bad. It drives like it is stock again... won't even go sideways around a turn anymore :( Barely chirps the tires..

I am going to try to get this one warrentied, but if the guy won't do it then I am going to get a really small stalled converter, like 2000 or 2200 stall.

Question is in the topic, does anybody have a problem with the converter locking up (basically overdrive)? Mine locks at about 40mph which is around 16 or 1700 rpm.. I still want overdrive to work with a stall converter, so I was wondering if it will slip when it drops into over drive and its under stall rpm? Like 2000rpm in overdrive while the converter has a 2s00-2500 stall.

My 2800-3000 stall has no problem going into overdrive. However, at lower speeds when it shifts into OD, it holds OD longer than before and it feels like you have an M5 and try to accelerate...has that really sluggish feel to it. Did not used to do that with the stock converter in there.

And my MPG did of course go down...not drastically but maybe 1-2mpg.

I've been fine on my stock converter.

My aftermarket 2800 stall had lockup problems at highway speeds, it would lock and unlock, lock and unlock, couldn't use cruise control or anything, and it also cause my car to hang when it should be shifting.

My PI VIG 3500 stall had no problems w/ lockup, but I shredded every spline inside it.

So I'm back on my stock converter again right now w/ no problems

Going to a Yank 2800 stall in the very near future(sittin in my basement) and don't expect any problems out of it?

          Man that sucks..
I am not going to get anything crazy, was thinking about this one right here:

But I make frequent highway trips so overdrive has to work for me..

when are you getting that Yank put in?
