  • Tiny trans leak, possible big problem?

I was under my car this weekend, and noticed a small leak where the driveshaft meets with the transmission. It doesn't leave a puddle or anything, but there's a little trans fluid on some of the mounts and crossmembers under the car around the area. My fluid level hasn't changed that I can see, but the leak is still worrysome. Is this an easy fix, or a PITA to fix? Has anyone else had this? Any help would be great. THanks.

I just saw that on my car last week. Sames as yours, no puddle. I've heard some about some issue regarding driveshafts and vibrations causing some leakage at 110 plus speeds. Anybody remember? It was on this board.

This happened to me about 3 months ago. Mine was the speed sensor. It looks like a cylander that links the driveshaft to the tranny. I was leaving puddles after a few days of not driving and finally took it out. i noticed the bracket was a little bent so i tweeked it and cleaned it real good and checked for any rips in the o-ring. Put it back in and all good now!

            Hope this helps anyone...

It could be that rear seal. It's easy to replace. Take out the driveshaft, pry out the old seal, tap the new one in there, reinstall the driveshaft.

The tricky part is figuring out where the leak is for sure. If you can get under the car, wipe everything down, then check it again later and see if you can tell where the leak is.

COMMON problem. We do alot of these where I work. They dont usually get severe enough to leave puddles unless ignored for an OBSCENE amount of time.
