  • '94 3.4L Camaro won't shift into park. Help please...

I searched for this topic to see if anyone has had this problem and unfortunately was not able to find anything.

My Automatic '94 3.4L Camaro will no longer shift into park anymore. When I go to Reverse, Drive, ect. the tranny "clicks" into the gears fine. The problem is that when I try to go from "D" to "P", the tranny feels lose and does not click on park. I have been leaving my car on reverse and setting the parking brake on firmly so that I can at least park the damn thing.

Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

Oh ya, tranny runs great and sounds great so I know it's not a big problem. Someone told me it may just need re-ajusting.

I would try that first, look at the cable going to the tranny and feel for looseness. Thats where I would start.

Also until you get it fixxed, put it in NUETRAL and apply the parking brake and turn it off. Starting the car up in gear is NEVER good, and you might end up doing more than your just damage to your tranny...

I had a similar problem several years ago with my shifter not doing what I asked it to do. I'd drop it into one of the drive gears and it would just rev high. I'd have to rock the shifter back and forth to get it to engage. It turned out that my linkage was loose. My mechanic fixed it pretty cheap.
