I think i am going to get the texas speed gear package that somes with the 10 bolt rear end and gears (3.42). Is that rear end LSD? How hard is it to install this? its a complete install kit but i would have to worry with getting the gears and everything lined up right? The other option is to get a complete z28 rear end with 3.42's from a junkyard for $550 that bolts right up. What should i do and how hard would the install be on the texas speed package?

That package from TSP does not come with a differential. You would still have to buy the diff seperatly. Installing the LSD is pretty simple, but gears make it more complicated. I'd have a professional install it for you. If you an get a rear end with 3.42s for $550, that's probably the best deal you can get.

I didnt know if that was a good deal or not. I just worry about a used rear being in good condition. Anyways he has one that will bolt right up to my car. I asked about a 97 computer and he said i didnt want one from him. He said the best thing would be to trade mine in at the chevy dealer for $150. Not sure about that one. He had y87 computers already there but they coast $300!!! used.

This guy also told me that a differential and a carrier were different things. He said that i couldnt get an lsd out of a z28 and put it on my car now. He said i would have to get the whole rear end. Can anyone help me on this and tell me if any of this is true?

Carrier and Differential are the same thing. You can get a differential right out of a Z8, and it'll work (depending on things like gears, ABS, etc). The LSD I got is straight out of a Z28. It works with no problems.
