To program or not to program?

well, i am also on the banwagon, and doing the natorious rear end swap, but want to know other than for speedometer reasons, will my car need tuning, or will it drive ok. others say that te comp will be all confused, and the car will drive like crap, not shift properly, and be slower than b4. is this true. i am planning a rebuild, so i eventually plan on the tuning, but after cam btw my car is a 94 a4.
