  • Question about different sized gears

Hi, I've read alot in these forums about different gear sizes, because after 1st gear , the acceleration is crappy. What kind of gears are these? The ones in the tranny? or in the drivetrain?
Sorry for bein a noob, but it is not explained anywhere indepth

Well first you have to let us know what year, stick or auto, and if you have the Y87 package for you car. If you let us know you would get better answers. You could also do a search which could give you answers. One more place to look is the technical database, you can find many answers to your questions: http://tech.firebirdv6.com/general.html

I think you're talking about the gear-ratio in the tranny and I am not sure if you can change that.

You can do things to help it feel not-so-sluggish outside of 1st gear.. basically any mod making your car accelerate faster lol

My car used to lay over really bad when it shifted into 2nd, but the more stuff I did to it to better my "dead spot" became.

Yup those are the gears in the differential. Otherwise known as the Final Gear ratio of the transmission. All the gears your car has (1st, 2nd, 3rd, ect) will add up to your final gear ratio in your differential. Your automatic should only have 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th(4th being the overdrive gear).
