3.42s now..or hold out for 3.73s?

i've been having some trouble finding a good, relatively inexpensive 3.73 LSD for my car...and theres this guy that has a 3.42 posi differential coming out of a 2000 Camaro for $250 ...should i just got for that..or should i hold out and do the 3.73s? ..will i really notice that big of a difference beween the 2? ...help me choose...thanks! depends on what you want to do with the car. I love my 3.42's. There was a nice gain, but not HUGE, however I still get great milage and have a top end. Personally, I wouldnt have 3.73's in my car.... but thats me.

all i want to be able to do is break into the 12s..and then run 12s consistantly in that car...thats my goal...im at 13.60 already ...so i know the gears alone wont do it..i need to tune it a lot..and then may need to up the nitrous a little...so thats what i want to do...and how did you have your car reprogrammed or whatever to respond to the 3.42s??

I went through texas-speed for tuning. They should be able to correct for your gears and help you out with the supercharger too.

awesome...i just emailed them telling them about the power problems i've been having...that im planning to upgrade the gears.. and asked them what type of tuning they'd be able to do with my computer...thanks for the info! [img]smile.gif[/img]

I would go with the 3.42s ... you might even be able to get away with 3.23s

3.42s couldn't be happier w/ mine.

A lot of people will argue that a bigger gear is better for Drag racing, but a lot of it depends on your setup.

W/ nitrous and S/C 3.42s should be plenty when its running properly!

why is it that the power adders like 3.42s better than 3.73s anyway?

@sshole!!! lol ...i just called the performance shop here...didnt set up an appointment but just made sure everything would be cool for the install and that a dealer around here will be able to do the recalibration (which they will) ...so i call up the guy to order the 3.42 posi differential for $250 and he tells me that someone there must have listed it wrong and that i guess im going to have to keep shopping...oh well...as soon as i find one i'll be on it...i appreciate all the help guys..thanks!

hey guys...how much of a difference does an LSD really make?...cuz i see a lot of 3.42 diffys on ebay but they're open..only a couple are a LSD
