I just bought me a one piece steel drive shaft out of a Z28 today to replace the two piece heavy thing and it wont fit on my car. Its a 95 3.4 automatic, and the one piece DS came out of a n Auto Z, so why wont the darn thing fit. My cousin is a mechanic and he said it is about 1" to 1 1/2" to long. PLEASE help me...any help is appreciated, detaled instructions, step by step, ANYTHING....im panicing..lol

i guess the yolk is lined up, it will slid right up into the trany just fine, but i cant get it to go into where the U bolts hold it to the rear end???, whats the deal, from what i hear everyone elses bolted up just fine??? should i take it to a drive shaft repair shop and get them to shorten it???, or should i try again?? :(

No, its out of a 4th gen, the 93-97 body style, and it came out of an auto trany. i guess im gonna try again and if it doesnt work ill just have it shortened, this blows my mind that it wont work. just my freakin luck i guess......

Place it by your old DS and see if the length is the same.

You got some things confused though. The aluminum one, not steel, is the one that everyone has and it fits every car. One would assume though that steel should be the same.

So do that measurement first and get back to us.

Well I finally got it to work!!!!! I tried it again this afternoon and got it to work, there was actually a metal trans support or something of that nature that was keeping the DS from going all the way up into the trans. The counter weight on the end of the DS was hitting this support so all i did was file off the corner of the support just enough to get the DS to enter the tranny all the way, then that gave me enough clearance for me to then line it up with where the U-bolts hold it on the rear end and then slid it back into the U-joints and bolt it on there. Now it is in the correct position and there is plenty of slack where it can shift back and forth if need be inside the trans. :D :D :D
