Hey everyone whats up? My transmission has been acting funny. I have a '96 Camaro Automatic. It drives fine but im worried about it. I don't know a lot about transmissions but I know a common knowledge of them. This is what it's doing. 1st gear is fine but when it hits 2nd gear or higher and i release the gas it cruises at 1000rpm. This is like 30-70mph. 1st gear if i let off the gas it cruises like 1500rpm. Say I have it in WOT and release it stalls for half a second in 3000-4000rpms then goes down to 2000 if im going around like 70. It almost feels like it was left in 2nd gear. If I put it in regular drive and put it back in overdrive it feels like theres no difference. It feels like OD has the lag that drive does. And for the first time when I was cruising at 30 and floored it, the transmission slipped on me. Which never happened in it's life. In a couple days I want flush the transmission fluid. Add new fluid. Change the filter and see if theres any metal chunks in it. If theres a problem and there probably is. How easy is it to replace the gears in the transmission. I'll probably do this myself so how hard will it be and how much is it going to cost. Is there any recommendations on the route I should take to correcting my problems with the transmission. What is everyones take on this? Also I noticed another problem that could be connected with the transmission. I had the car off and I press down the gas and release it. I can hear the throttle hitting against something. It's just not a little click like some cars have. This is a clank. When the throttle should be being released from the gas pedal. My car usually idles at 1200rpms. It now idles at 1000 or 900rpms. I'm going to post this in general too about the throttle. Any help will be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks A lot.
