  • Driveshaft replacement?

I have a '95 with a 3.4, 130+ clicks. Two piece driveshaft. Rear bearing, seemingly, is making loud growling noises. Want to change to one piece d/s. One on EBAY right now from '94 Z28 auto. I'm pretty sure the d/s's are interchangeable aren't they? As long as the mating ends match?...........

The reason I am replacing it is because I have been told the carrier bearing in the existing two piece one is shot........and making the loud growling sound that I'm hearing come from the rear section of car....can't quite pin down exactly where it's generating from but definately rear section......That noise will be eliminated by going to a one piece right?...95, V6 two piece to a '94 V8 one piece. That'll kill the noise right?

that'll kill the noise unless it's your differential. the peg legs make a TON of noise. when i put my LSD in the noise went away completely... then i put the aluminum 'shaft in and some came back but it's barely audible. it's one of those things that only the owner of the car can hear, if you know what i'm saying.

Sorry man.............I laughed there for a sec............"when I put my LSD in the noise went away completely"! Odd sense of humor I must have!......what do you mean by LSD? ...Not lysergic diathalamide acid right? HAHAHAHA....I kill myself sometimes!

            whoops, my fault...

Limited-Slip Differential, like the Zexel torsen available from SLP at www.slponline.com

on this car, best $100 and 4 hours i ever spent.

EDIT: that post was fraught with innuendo if you think about it... lol honestly i didn't mean any of it, that's just the way it happens sometimes. i get so used to using abbreviations on the board that i forget that not everybody knows what they mean. :D
