  • anyone know what this is?

One morning when I went to start my car, I pushed the clutch in and heard a little pop. This spring fell in the floorboard. See pic. It's broken. I looked around under the clutch pedal but didn't see where it might go. The clutch operates fine without it. Anybody know where it goes?

Is that a carpet clip or a body panel retainer of some kind?

That would be a clutch pedal spring. It just keeps your clutch pedal at the same height as your brake pedal. It's the clutch itself that actually pushes back. I'd replace it if it were my car, but it's probably optional.
