  • tranny/clutch problems. please help!!!!!

Ok, my car is messing up and I dont know exactly why even though I have some ideas... I replaced my pilot bearing, rear main seal, and resurfaced the flywheel, so I put everything back together and start the car and try to put it in first gear. And it wont go in... Come to find out it wont go into any gear. 1, 4 5, or reverse. So I take advice froma freind of mine who says it could be the slave cylinder. So I change that and bleed it correctly and same thing, no gears. So I am wondering if it is something else bigger. I am afraid I am going to have to take out the tranny again, which is my worst nightmare cause I have to do this on jackstands and I dont have much tools. Anyways, this is what I think might be wrong with it I just want to double check and get some second opinions....

    1. Clutch in backwards
    2. Throw-out bearing installed incorrectly some how
    3. Master cylinder???
    4. I am actually working on a honda civic and this is supposed to happen.

Please help me out guys I need transportation so I can actually drive myself to work and not take rides. Thanks in advance...

and I agree with you. But I dont have the money and the time it will have to sit at the shop. I know, I know what about the time its sitting in my driveway. But I might have to end up doing that. Thanks,

well I hate to say this but no matter what it is you are going to have to pull your tranny.

if your clutch is in backwards with the car shut off you should be able to still shift into at least a few gears, however if you honestly think that it might be backwards pull it back off and put it back on. to make sure it's correct.

next is the throwout bearing, I can't help a whole bunch there but it seems to me that if it were on backwards just pushing your clutch in would be tough.

I have one other question, do you have an aftermarket shifter? Like a hurst which has adjustable stops? If so perhaps did you move them? I have had it happen to my car, stop came loose and worked it's way in so I was stuck in 4th (not fun by the way).

thanks black98v6. Actually I was relaxing in my living room thinking to myself "Oh how nah do thy wish to work on car". And I was watching television and the weather came on and she said. "Expect rain tonight and tommorow". So I was like GOD D*****! So I got my lazy *** out there and worked on it. Actually Ive done this 4 times to my car and it only took me 2 1/2 hours from when I first touched a wrench to a bolt, till when I started it up and drove down the driveway. Which I think is good time for doing the job on jackstands in my driveway with a limited amount of tools. Anyways, it is finished now. Clutch was in backwards... So I dont have to touch that peice of **** again. BTW, its is fixed now, and if you are ever driving behind me you will see a sticker on my third brake light that says "My *****" I thought it was fitting. ;)
