My 96 V6 Auto trans is going out i think.. I keep getting a code 1870, and i can feel it slip sometimes. My question is, if i do have to have it repaired, or buy a new one, what would you reccomend? is there a better trans to put in this car? considering i may do some other mods in the future? thanx for any info.

Rebuilding a trans costs $1100. Swapping a trans costs $300 plus add a cost of that trans. Your 96 might only accept a 96 and 97 trans, maybe 98. So those might have some miles on them. Best bet is to have it rebuilt. You never know if the trans you buy is in good shape.
