Question about TransGo, and Servo

I've seen a couple of posts on the TransGo and the Corvette Servo. I've read about the transgo kit, and it looks really cool. But i've got some questions.

1. Does it really prolong the life of your transmission and increase performance.
2. What is a good price for this kit on a 4L60E
3. What is a corvette servo? and what does it accomplish?
4. My trans is getting an 1870 code, i was told by a tranny shop "and shown in a book" that this is a common occurance in this tranny all that needs to be done is have a valve cylindar bored out and resleaved. my question is will the transgo shift kit replace this valve, or do i still need to have it bored and resleaved?

the transgo kit will prolong the life of your clutches in the tranny itself. it will be harsher on the gearing, though. the corvette servo(s) make the tranny use less clutch engagement on 1-2, 2-3 shifts also. doing both will make your car shift much better. unless you do like heads/cam, sc, and bunch of other performance mods, don't worry about the gearing.
