  • Code 1870 and 1-2 slipping

I've had the 1870 code for probably about half a year now. The code rarely sets, but every now and then I still get the PWM lock-up. I want to know if I should get a full rebuild or if I should just try the Sonnax (sonnex?) fix alone. Is there anything else I should try with the Sonnax vavle that might help, short of a rebuild.

Also, my 1-2 shifts have been slipping (not locking-up, plain old slipping) under anything more than moderate acceleration. Can this be caused solely from fluid leaking through the TCC vavle, or does it mean I have an actual problem with the 1-2 bands or whatever now?

    Thanks, George

If your 1-2 shifts have been slipping, and you have been getting the 1870s for a while now, your tranny is most likely toast.

At this point, just get it rebuilt, well. I've been through 2 rebuilds now (1st one for this problem, second one because my input drum failed).

Also, since you have been driving it for this long, I would put a new input drum in, so you don't end up in the same place I did.
