Im getting a new clutch next so far I'm going with Cebterforce D/F cause Spec is way too much.
And so far I did not hear any bad things about it.
All opinions are welcomed but I already made my mind up so far.
i dont think there is much of a price difference..
I dunno.. I am getting a stage 2 spec installed on the 19th.. i have my doubts about the centerforce and how much it can acctualy hold.. which will become an issue in my car future..
does anyone here run the stage 1 spec? i always here people talking about stage 2 and 3 but do they really need that much if stage 1 holds up to 400hp?

most op for the stage 2, but in my case with my 500 RWHP goal i MUST go with the stage 3
if you plan on turbo or SC or nos i would get the stage 2 for 379. Clutch kits come with Pressure Plate, Throwout Bearing & Clutch Disc Line-up Tool
were the CF is going to cost $278 and the T/O for $66 more or $344, for 30 bucks i would go with the stage 2
theres some one here that has the stage 2 SPEC in there sig, ask how the like it, also i made a post asking witch one i should get, 99% told me the SPEC

Now, Stefan / Jenn will chime in that the CF DF holds fine, but, although I have no personal experience with it, I would say stay away from it.

I am getting the stage 2 installed on the 19th ($700 total)..
I am sure the centerforce is fine for most applications.. but I wanted a clutch that I "know" will hold.. cause next year, i will be spending alot more time in the FI section..
umm.. i will let everyone know how it goes when i get it installed.. it may be a while though.. cause i want to spend a good amout of time breaking it in..

These numbers are wrong. Also, several vendors state that the Stage 3 comes with three available disc materials, this is not correct either. Kevlar is not an option for Stage 3, only carbon and ceramic are.
As for the torque ratings, check Spec's website, www.specclutch.com . The LS1 Stage 3 will supposedly hold 700 ft-lbs but not the V6 version.
I find it mysterious that they list the Stage 4 as "not streetable" when it supposedly has the same rating as the Stage 3. If that is true, what would be the point of getting a Stage 4?
I have e-mailed their sales department with a request for clarification, I will post what they say.
Regardless, people seem to refer to the Dual Friction as "the" Centerforce clutch. Remember that Centerforce also makes a full line of clutches--the Dual Friction just happens to be the top-of-the-line and that's what everyone orders. It is a very strong clutch with terrific streetability. You'll never hear a DF owner complain about chatter like I've heard from Stage 3 Ceramic owners.
Regarding holding power, the Dual Friction is about the same as the Stage 3. No V6 on this site is ever going to produce enough power to cause either one to slip.
As far as I undertand (I ordered my stage three back in december or so and haven't installed it yet)
The Stage 3's are all X-Pad's now, which is some sorta hybrid material.
The street / non-street crossover from stage 3 to stage 4 is because stage 4 is a move to an unsprung hub -- look at the darn thing, no springs = more difficult / harder / skilled / quicker takeoff. Good for racecars, bad for streets, but some people can do it. As I said, no experience yet. But I'll be stage III'ing it.
As for the chatter, folks say that it goes away in a few hundred miles.
Billy, glad to hear that you're going FI. Welcome to our world!

rob is correct about the stage 3 specs.. all the new ones are "x-Pad" style wich from what i understand is a mix of materials.. they did this because it just as stong, and a little more streetable..
you "may" be able to find places that have the single material stage 3's still in stock.. but you probably want the x-pad one..
I put in a Spec Stage 3 a few months back. I think its great. But i sold my supercharger before i installed it, so i haven't really been able to put too much power to it, nor have i raced anyone or gunned it hard (it's disappointing to lose that much power). But I've got tiago's kit on the way, so we'll she how she reacts to seem decent power.
By the way after about 1,000+ miles it isn't as jerky as i thought it would be, it actually rides quite smoothly if u drive it nice and easy. But if u let the clutch out quickly she jerks rather nicely (haha, sounds kinda pornographic here )
Anyways, that's all i can really tell u about it now, maybe in a few months when i have the turbo kit on and i'm pushing a lot more power i can give someone a better idea about the stage 3.
