Last I heard it was possible to recalibrate with 3.73 shift points on an automatic. And since hpp3 isnt made for the 98's, that isnt and option. That's the reason I had asked the question. I was unaware that it was that simple for a performance shop to just edit tuning. I guess I'll hafta call my shop and see how much that would run.

It's simple if they know how to do it... whcih they might.
Like you said, HPP3 is not an option for the 98. You might want to contact Zoomer at ZZ Performance, I think he can help you out.Matt
2000 Firebird

FullThrottleV6.com

I have a 1999 Camaro that I am getting ready to do a gear swap on. They do not make a HPP3 for my car But I have a thery that because there is no difference between a 99 & 00 3.8 except the exhaust manifolds I am thinking that putting the PCM from the 00 into my 99 a HPP3 will work. Has or can anyone confirm or deny that?Eric

I dont understand why so many people change their gears, but dont correct their speedometer.
The top speed limiter is of no importance if you do the installation correctly. I.E. Get a Speedo Recalibrator.
If you dont want to go all out with the hpp3 or something to that nature, you can get the Jet SCU 2000 (which is what I use) or the SLP recalibrator.
Once again... the top speed limiter is not an issue. If you are cheap, and drive around with a wrong speedo, then it is.
But, the Speedo recalibrators can cost as little as 90 new, and I believe magnus is selling one right now for $50.
It is beyond me why people just accept that the speedo will be off. In my opinion, it is way easier to just use a recalibrator than it is to swap computers or other crazy stuff like that. (Note- I'm not talking about the HPP3 or anything- I like those, I'm just saying that it is unneccessary to swap computers)
Edit: Oh yeah, and now that I have 3.73's I can blast through 100+ so much quicker than I used to be able to.
