Is it harmful to ride around in 2nd gear on the automatic. I love the idea that it keeps the rpms in the powerband and there's no waiting for it to downshift. This is similar to riding around with a stick holding a gear. As long as I'm not holding it above like 4,000 it shouldn't be a problem on anything except my fuel economy...correct?

actually...my owners manual (92 camaro) says that you shouldnt leave it in for more than 5 miles. altho i do have a different tranny (700r4), i still doubt it can be good for your tranny. id consult the owners manual1992 Camaro RS
Performance: K/N filter and custom CAI
Stereo/Electronics: 10\" Kicker Subwoofers, DEHP-4400 Pioneer Head Unit
Maintenance: New brake lines, New transmission mount
Upcoming: Flowmaster American Thunder Catback, Catco Catalytic Converter

I am no expert, but when you run it in 1,2,3 the overrun clutch pack is engaged. When I did my rebuild I remember the overrun clutch pack having the fewest clutches.
So, if you are driving around at like 50 mph in second all the time, the overrun clutch pack might not be able to handle all the stress and start slipping.
It's just speculation, take it for what it's worth.\'96 Camaro Convertible
