  • A4 to M6

in my search for an LS1 with an auto tranny i have found none. i have foun a number of M6 LS1 engines. what is the reality of just doing the whole switcharoo? is it a simple drop in and add a clucth pedal? i have had no luck finding an auto LS1 yet. tacreations has a 2000 but they said they where not going to dig into that car for another week or 2. anybody have any advice? i think it would bebad azz to get an M6, but i dont know if it is reasonably possible just yet. by the time i find an auto!!!!!!!
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

Shouldn't be a problem. Camaro_zach installed a M5 into his V6 auto. I would assume that it would take less time if you are changing the whole thing out. Just a cut for the shifter and for the clutch pedal and you should be set.

How does that work? I really don't know how you would shift through the gears since you can only move it verticaly and not horizontaly. I've seen manual consoles in an auto, but I don't see how it would work the other way around.

                ner, finally you catch on.

anyways, it would be easy to convert to a manual. you have to get all the hydrolics though, and you have to cut a hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal. not a problem just a pain. then you need a new brake/clutch pedal. they are on the same mount, so thats not a problem either. Then youre already getting the new pcm, so once again not a problem. you need to cut a hole in the body for the shifter to come up out from under the car and into the car. this is cake. email me if you are really going to do it and you have the engine and trans and you need a walk through.

oh yeah its happening. i havent bought the engine/tranny cause i have been looking for an auto (which i can not find) tacreations says they have one but they are too busy to work on that car for about 2 weeks. i took out a loan for 3,700 and now all i have to worry about is labor. this is not my cup of tea. and my mechanic has never done a L36/LS1 engine swap before. he says he can do whatever, and i know he can- he builds hotrods on the side. i was just looking into the practicality of the project.
as of now its a go on the 6 speed. i will prolly purchase the engine/tranny on monday next. thanks zach for the info and i just might be emailing you later on. like i said earlier, my mechanic is doing it, but all help is appreciated.

at first he quoted me 3,700 to 3900 for an LS1 with auto tranny. now that i called him up and told him i want the manual he tells me 4,200 for his 2000 with 60,000 miles. he also has a 2002 for 5,300. WTF!! i might as well buy it new. is this right? shouldnt the manual be cheaper? i can only imagine he will say cause there is not much market for an auto.
but he did say the clutch and brake assy he will sell me for $45. hell. with the amount of steaks i am about to buy him he should just give it to me.
