  • Problems with torque converter installation-fixed

Well as some of you know I got my Edge 3000 stall installed a couple of weeks ago. A few days after it was installed, I started leaking transmission fluid and got an SES light. Took it into the dealership, told them what I had done to the car (bye-bye drivetrain warranty.) Got the car back later in the evening. Apparently the mechanic (who works for a transmission shop and did mine on the side) put the wrong gaskets on it and forgot to plug a knock sensor back in!! Talk about half-*** work! There was a lesson to be learned though. Research the qualifications of the people you trust your car with, or do it yourself so its your own fault if something gets screwed up.

there are no gaskets to replace when doing a tq converter. and a knock sensor...hahaha there are no knock sensors on the tranny. there are a few sensors...like the VSS and a few others but maybe your dealer is an idiot also.

The fluid was probably changed, so it could have been the pan gasket. Or the mechanic could have been rough putting the drive shaft back in, and damaged the output seal. Or damaged the little black ring seals on the transmission input shaft that keep the fluid inside the torque converter.

You're right, there arn't any gaskets/seals that NEED to be replaced when replacing the torque converter, but there are a few that might be damaged.

I can't come up with any reason the mechanic might have taken a knock sensor out though...

Yeah, I was thinking that was a little weird, but the problem is solved now. (shrug)
