Ok, I'm pretty sure my car has the 3.08 gear ratio. For in the codes it says GU4 and I think that matches up with the 3.08 one. Anyway, here's my question. I WANT 3.42!!! Or even 3.73. Eh my 3.42, it's an everyday driver. Anyway I would really like to have it. Is it a pain in the *** ? Where would I start? Who would I talk to? I know the differences are amazing! Does that void a powertrain warranty? If so and the car broke because of it, could the 3.08 be easily put back in and I get away with it? Let me know!

damn, when newbies attack each other its never a pretty site. Dont do it yourself unless your really smart, you need gears and a installation kit, and Limited slip if your smart. Problem with gears is setting the backlash, which is never fun. Once your done you will need your speedo reprogram too. So if you buy the parts and a shop does it for you right your looking at about $750 and around $100 for the speedo to redone.Dont call me chief.<br /><br />2001 Camaro Convertible Rs Replica<br />1991 Acura Legend

jc Kyle.. i dont mean to be a d***, but it does say on a few different places on this board to "please do a search before asking a question" because alot of the infmoration has been asked and answered time and time again.
Theres really no need for this childish bickering. I don't claim to be an export of this bored, but I've posted forever on others, and this is one of the best i've seen.. lots of good info on our cars is exchanged, almost anything can be found in the archives, and not alot of gargage as are on some others. If you can't find it, there are alot of knowledgeable people here who can help you. Just my two cents! Ya know, you can run more than 3.73's (if you want to) and still maintain driveability!

You aren't going to break the powertrain with a V6! The rear end is built to sustain the abuse of the LS1 with 3.42 gearing. Almost 350 Ft-lbs to the rear wheels, stock. (will support 450) And designed to do so for over 100,000 miles.
3.08 to 3.42 by the way is about a 22 horsepower equivalent gain.<b>15.41</b> @ 89.80 & 15.45 @ <b>91.64</b>, 2.21 60ft, 3,440 raceweight, using <b>OEM</b> Equipment. <br />\'98 L67/M49 w/ 134,000 miles before spun bearing. \"<i>It\'s all stock, Baby</i>!\"
