Just what the subject says. I've heard that the brakes are different on the LS1 rear ends, is this also true for all 98+ f-bodies? (i've heard they are bigger) Will this mess anything up?
I'd like to know asap, b/c the rear I have in there now is going to crap (stupid salvage yard) and I'm eyeballing one from a 98 car to replace it.
Thanks

Well...the 98+ fbodies have disc brakes instead of drum brakes on the back. I think they may be larger than pre-98 fbodies too. A lot of places have a conversion kit to hook up the disc brakes on a fbody that had drums.

Yes, they are bigger discs on the 98+. I've heard of people with 93-97 putting them on and they still work, just not as well. But im sure it'd be better then drums lol! I'm not sure if the lines match up though... I did a 97 lt1 rearend on a 97 v6, so I had none of those kind of issues.
Plus, don't the ls1 have an auburn unit in the rear?

By not working as well, I mean.. not working as well The 98+ brakes need more pressure to operate, but with a 93-97 car, they will still work, but will not put as much power into it as the 98+ brakes do. Not sure how you fix that though?
