  • ls1 vs 1le driveshaft?

    the aluminum ones.
    they wiegh the same, or what is different?

    search didn't do anything for me, nor did the tech database.

    thx for any help

    1LE was 2.75", LS1 is 3". Note the tense -- 1LE isn't made anymore, LS1 is. As far as I know ... Very similar weights, not worth tracking down one or the other, just either. I've got one in mine. [img]smile.gif[/img]

      The 1LE has thicker walls. There was a thread on CamaroZ28.com about this.

        Supposedly LS1 driveshaft weighs 12 pounds, 1LE weighs 10 pounds. LS1 driveshaft is thicker than the 1lE driveshaft as stated above. Plus the LS1 driveshaft has a balance ring on it. Only one person has ever had a problem with the balance ring touching their exhaust. The LS1 driveshaft can be had a litle cheaper.

        I wanted a new driveshaft, and was worried about the balance ring (probably unnessarily) and bought the 1le from gmpartsdirect.

              Seriously, I think the balancer ring is not even close to my exhaust. I wouldn't worry unless you have some weird 4 inch catback thats bent wierd.
