  • Reprogramming for new gears (3.73/4.10)

Ok..few simple questions..just need these answered and then I'm pretty sure I can get new gears installed.

If I were to add 3.73's or 4.10 gears, would *ANY* programming to the computer have to be done in order for the car to gain the torque or HP? In other words, if I were to just install a lsd and 4.10 gears and that's it, would I still be able to feel the difference? Or does the computer NEED to be reprogrammed in order for the car to 'recognize' the new gears.

Also..everyone says that you can use a HPP3 to reprogram the speedo so that it is correct. Would that be able to work on 4.10 gears? And I CANNOT find an HPP3 anywhere for 3.4L Camaros'..only LT1 and LS1. If someone can give me a link to one, I would appreciate it. Hope someone can answer these questions! yeah i also wanted to ask this question, so any help would be nice.

also, i think there are products that just recalibrate your speedometer(and thats ALL they do), like this:

No, the performance gain will be a result of physical part modification. The only reason the computer needs to recognize the new gearing is to recalculate for the Vehicle Speed Sensor - so the speedometer will be accurate.
