  • URGENT People who have swapped a 1LE 6 speed tranny mount in a auto 3.4!

Ok today i took out my old auto tranny mount, and swapped in the 6-speed 1LE tranny mount. First thing i noticed was it was a little smaller in height. Now i seemed to picked up some vibration, becuase it seemed to lower my tranny about a 1inch. Now is this normal, and gotta wait for it to break in or what????I dont want my tranny get messed up....

This is a common problem. But I would feel good about what you noticed. Most people don't pick up on that 1/2 drop in heighth.

So yes that difference causes your driveshaft angle to be off a little bit. After noticing that vibration in my own car, I removed it and haven't re-installed it yet.

However a few members have installed it and say that after about 2-3 days that vibration will go away, and no negative side affects will be caused. I believe someone has had theirs in for over 4 years now. No problems.

What I am going to do, when I stop being lazy is ask Energy Suspensions or Prothane for several of those stack plates (one comes with your kit) I think if you had about 5 of them and some long bolts, it all should like up. No vibration, and really strong mounting.

They'll probably mail you them for free?

some people just stack a bunch of washers up to restore stock height.

i personally used an energy suspension mount and haven't looked back; i couldn't perceive any difference in shifter height though the vibration was awful for a little while.
