Ok I have done a search already on this and learned alot. But there are still things that arn't too clear to me. Like is that torque converter that is posted for around $300 on the mod sheet anygood? Is 2100 even a good stall? I just want somthing that I can use to drive everyday, but still have that kick of power when I want it. Or is there any major change in the ammount of acceleration at diff RPM's and MPHs? Thanks

it really only improves your launch for the most part. if you cant hook up though you will just sit there spinning. dont get less then a 3000 stall its not worth it. you get what you pay for when it comes to converters. honestly i bet a yank could run the fastest time but with a yank also comes alot of money.
PI are good still not cheap
edge are cheap but really only have been proven on one car

Is there anything out there with a 3000 stall, that is much under $700? Thats alotta cash to spend, and that doesn't even include install.My 1996 Camaro RS <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/mustangkiller311\" target=\"_blank\">www.cardomain.com/id/mustangkiller311</a> \"Its out-dated\"<br />Mods=SLP CAI, 3.42/LSD, 180*, BMR StrutBrace,SLP Take-Off Shocks/Springs, Z28Swaybar, DynomaxSuperTurbo,3in pipes,Catco3in,3in Cutout ThrottleBody Spacer, SolidDriveShaft,NGKplugs, Taylor8mmWires,ZR1 rims, RS Spoiler,WhiteFacedGuages.<br />Stereo= Pioneer DEH-P8400MP, Custom Subthump enclosure, 2 BlouPunkt 12\'s, JL 500/1, Fosgate speakers, 1FaradCap.<p>NEW 1997 FireBird Formula WS6

I run pro yank 3200
I went from a consistent 2.3 60 foot to as low as 1.922
I went from typical 15.3's to a best of 14.4
I did also port the intake and weight reduction so that does play a part in it.
I'm happy with mine
I got it to hook once on nitorus and et streets and I lost the tranny and fuel solenoid and did pull a 1.630 :eek:Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
nitrous et & mph: 12.168 & 110.95 mph, n/a 13.746 & 96.38 mph

try edge, for $400. 1.98 60ft, 14.98@88.53 is what i run on the 3600 stall from edge.
kris (slacker69) also has an edge and pulled like a 14.34@94.14 or something in that area--with a 1.88 60ft i think. he has quite a few mods, not sure what they all are, but i know his verter is exactly a 3000 stall.
either way, i think you will find edge to be well worth your time.

but you could always go with PI if the $700 works for ya, they have a better name and more people have good things to say about them over edge. but kris and i will back edge up if you need it, otherwise, just go with PI.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28<br />323/335

wait im kinda scared, why does slacker run so much better with so much of a better mph with a 3000 stall and you have a 3600 stall and only hit 88 mph? is the 3600 edge not a good choice? i have one and will be really dissapointed if i hit 88 mph :(Longtubes, true duals, ram air, caspers tps tec, ls1 26lb injectors, supersix powerpack, heads milled .020, comp cam .507 220/224 114 ls, forged internals and chromeoly pushrods, bored .030 over, tb spacer, tranny built with stiffer springs and kevlar bands, bigger servo, transgo stage 3 shift kit, edge 3600 stall, 1 pc aluminum ds, 3.73 superior gears, lsd rear ,custom pcm tuning, walbro 255 in tank,

From what i have talked to and reasearched is that on our motors after 3000 stall you start to lose significant topend thtas why i personally will never go above 3000-3200 stall on the 3.8L motor. An thats why i went with a 3000 stall and it took a while to get use to it and now i run great with it. Best NA time is a 14.34@92.6 with a 1.866 60 foot and with a 75 shot 13.46 @99 with a 1.74 60 foot. heh, there has been a heck of a discussion on this one lately. regardless, 3600 stall could be a bad choice, i don't really know. thus far, i haven't showed any impressive numbers yet, but my converter did help me by .4 of a second, so i know it is helping, i just don't know how much.
although may sound like an excuse, you HAVE to take into consideration that kris runs many more mods than i do, and the more mods, the better times. kris' car is quick, and he drives it well, 3600 stall might earn him better times, it might not, just hard to say. but i won't stop trying. either i will pull some nice numbers, or i will give up trying. either way, you will know if my 3600 is a good one or not.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28<br />323/335

I've used both a PI multi-disk 3200 stall and a 1995-vintage 3200 stall AC (Art Carr) converter in my GN. 3200 is a reasonable stall on the street, so the wife doesn't mind when she's behind the wheel. My friend (john00v6A4) is running a Precision Industries Vigilante 2800 converter. He went from 2.0x 60' to a best of 1.81 from the converter swap. We are pulling his tranny out this weekend for a rebuild and the converter is going back to PI for an upgrade to a 3300.<b>99 Trans Am- Bright Red 6 speed</b><br /><br /><a href=\"http://thunderracing.com/projects/?action=read&pgid=86\" target=\"_blank\">348ci forged shortblock, Thunder Racing ported 5.3l heads, Cam Motion 246/250 110lsa hyd. roller cam, Moser 12-bolt (4.56/spool)</a><br /><br /><b><i>10.32@131.70, 1.43 60\' - 3238 raceweight, +675\' DA</b></i>

I dont think anyone really has one less than a 3000 stall like me but if u are worried about daily driveing there is no difference u wont start roasting the tires at a stop light unless u floor it at the light Daily drivin is the same to me.<b><a href=\"http://www.sick-sixx.com\" target=\"_blank\">SICK-SIXX MEMBER</a></b><br />NA 14.345 with a 1.863 60 foot<br />Nitrous 13.03@99.5 with a 1.63 60 foot<br /><br />2000 Camaro 3.8L A4: USE TO HAVE Comp Cam 210/220 .535/.547 113lsa 111 I/C, Port and Polished Heads, NX Wet Kit 100 Shot, CPRA made by CP, RK Sport Headers
