• i want a head count....

"raise your hand" if you actually did your own LSD replacement.

I just can't get the carrier out. I've spent about 2 hours driving around town talking to mechanics at all these shops/parts houses and I've all but gotten completely discouraged that I'll be able to do this myself.

First of all, the bearings that came on the takeoff LSD are no good, which means I have to take the b0rked ones off first AND THEN press on a new set which is 20 bux a pop at one local place. That's after I finally get the gear/carrier out (or if I should say). Then, there's the matter of alignment. The gears/diff are supposed to be aligned within a 1/100th of an inch to be just right. If its too lose, there will be too much noise and the gears will go out. If its too tight, the diff will "stick" and the gears will go out. I think there are special measuring tool like micrometers for setting up the diff. Of course, I don't/won't have access to those for cheap. :(

I'm about to call BS on this whole job here. I think people who've done this at home were either really lucky that their gears matched up or had to actually have this done at a shop (which, one of them told me would be $400-$700 to do).

WOOHOOOO! you can all welcome me to the 2 wheel burnout club. the zexel unit works wonderfuly.

i don't remember the last time i was this happy with a mod.

i mean, crap! i'm not even afraid to hit gas in a turn anymore... even on wet pavement like tonight.

it was all worth it. hopefully it'll hold out over time too. now all i have left to do is go to the track.

                :D
