For a 3.8 that has factory 3.08 that is used as a daily driver which gears would be better? 3.24 or 3.42? I am thinking 3.24 for better gas milage since the car will never or rarely see a track. I just need more low end power. Just looking for thoughts and sugguestions.

go with 3.42s. Gas mileage won't be affected terribly, especially if you have overdrive. GM rates the gas mileage the same on the Y87 (3.42 gears) and the regular coup (3.08 gears) so it can't make that much of a difference.-Eric<br />2002 Navy Blue Camaro...Striped and Stalled. 35th Anniversary SS wheels <br />Best ET: 15.384 @ 88.32 on street tires<br />Project Whitney: Goal, 14.0 1/4 by summer 2008.

I do want more accel - I was just worried the 3.8 wouldnt be powerful enough for the 3.73s. I'm also concerned about gas milage - that was the main reason I got the 6 not the 8 not to mention price hehehe ok so now the question is 3.42 or 3.73 - also I know nothing about gears - will upgrading the gears throw off the speedo?01 Firebird <br />Whisper Lid - K&N<br />Raised Air Lid - Free Ram Air<br />Borla Cat-Back Quad tips<br />3.42s with lsd on the way

wait a tick...if you have a 2001 firebird you should already have 3.42's, am I wrong? because my 2000 camaro came with them and I thought I had 3.08's for the longest time! check the codes on the inside of your driver's side door for the code GU6, if you have that code, then you have 3.42's already.
