  • NEED HELP FAST...

I need this answered in the next day or less...

I have a 1998 Camaro, meaning that it has 3.08 gears stock.

I want to buy these new gears (3.73s with a LSD, 28 spline, 7.5", 10 bolt -- series 3 I believe.. how can you tell?). Question is...

    1. Do I have a 2 or 3 series carrier?
    2. If I have a series 2, can I buy something for me to switch to a series 3?

    THANKS!

EDIT: The new set is here...

This sure is getting asked alot lately.

First, do you have an Auto or a Manual. Not all 3.8s have 3.08s.

    Read some stuff here:

      I have the A4...

EDIT: Reading those links, I see I have a series 2 and I'm going to have to buy a new reluctor ring.. correct?

What happens if I don't buy a new ring?

Then you need to check your RPO codes to see which gears you have. You could have either 3.08s or 3.42s. The latter being series 3 (and most likely on an LSD).

          I don't have 3.42s.. I've checked that code before and it's a 3.08...

As per the first link I posted:
3.23s and numerically higher gears are series 3.

If the 3.73s were designed for a series 2 diff (some are), they would most likely be clearly sold as such.
