Thinking about getting one, I like the idea of reusing the stock knob, and I've heard it's a serious improvement over stock. Car is daily driven and goes to the strip maybe 5 times a year.

Any comments about this shifter are welcome. The adjustable "shift stops" idea seems interesting. Is it easy to calibrate?
Where should I buy it? Is there a site sponsor that stocks them? One site I looked at was Afterthoughts Auto. Any opinions?

    Thanks in advance.

I have heard of the shift stops coming loose over time, but besides that every M5 car needs an upgraded shifter.

As for buying it, stick to the known sites. FTPP, Thunder Racing, T-Byrne, TSP, Summit, etc.

b&m shifter is also very very good... the only advantage/disadvantage (depending how u look at it), is that its stock length.. but the throws are AMAZING

i have the b&m shifter. i want to change it out for a pro. don't get me wrong the b&m is great i just like the feel of the pro. and yeah any shifter will be better than stock. i know when i had my stock shift i would punch the radio bezel when i had to shift.

I have a hurst and my shift stops came loose. It kind of sucks not being able to get into 2,4, or reverse randomly while you are driving.

I love my pro 5.0 shifter. Easy install, the shift stops aren't that hard to adjust. I ordered mine from thunder racing and it was at my house in a matter of a couple of days. It made a HUGE difference over stock. The stock shifter knob threads onto it (although i had tossed mine long ago) and if you really wanted, you could buy lou's short stick and make your throw even shorter (which i have yet to do).
