i absolutely LOVE my 3.73's, acceleration is better from bottom to top, i have the SLP processor, it fixed the speedometer but my governor is at 99 mph now!!! it pulls real hard up to there then it starts dropping cylinders, thats the only downsides i have, it doesnt bother me cuz I dont hit top end very much, i rather just run the quarter...plus i dont want my car to read more miles than it actually has so if i trade it in value is like it should be...

I hear ya wicked. That's what i say. Its not like everyday you go over a 100mph or something. Who cares. I haven't recalibrated my speedo yet..but I want to soon. I've had my 3.73's for a while now...and I dont want to keep racking up "fake" miles on my odometer.

But yeah..3.73's rule for acceleration. Some people say you lose acceleration in higher gears..but hell...i only noticed improvement all throughout in my ride.

I would pay him good money if he could reprogram my pcm for 3.73 gears. I have been wanting to try them for awhile now. But I dont want a messed up speedo,

Aminor, which speedo recalibrator did you use? SLP? Jet?? I havent heard of anyone that has tried the SLP yet. I hear the jet does not work. If I could just get confirmation that the SLP does what it is supposed to do then I would really think about a gear change. I dont have to worry about shift points because I am stick, But I would need the RPM's to read accuratly. So does anyone have experience with the slp?

Yea I am planning on getting some gears as well and this is a big problem for me because no dealerships around this area will do that kind of thing.

                HOLD ON JUST A MINUTE!!!

quote:
One of the problems is that, it fixes the speedo, but the RPMS are reading "accurately" for your new ly calculated speed, which screws up the stock PCM. It starts thinkin' your tranny's slippin' and throws that P1870 code. It's like the speedo problem is addressed, but not the increased RPMS for the gears! Got it as soon as I got to rolling on the highway. Unintentionally removed it after mechs. got water in it. Haven't had the problem since. My stock gears were 3.08, gonna set it to 3.23, and see if that works. No joke, learn to live with the speedo being off.

slp speed calibrator doesn't work on the a4 i'm assuming...but...

but this obviously works fine for an m5...is this always the case, or do SOME OF YOU WITH A4'S MADE THIS SLP PROCESSOR WORK??? thx.

I have the Jet one. Haven't given up totally though. If I can get it to work set to 3.23, the speedo will be at least a little better.

Also, when I was getting the problem, I didn't have the gears installed yet, just new tires that were size 25.6. Stock tire size was 26.2 I had the jet set to 3.08 and 26 inch tires. It also seems that my shifts got a little sloppy with the calibrator installed.

I bought it, so I'm gonna keep fooling with it. Don't have the heart to pass it off to someone in the "For Sale" section. Anyway, my best friend is an auto technician, and doesn't mind clearing the codes.
