I take it your camaro is a 97...?
What year is the SS rear from? Are you buying the whole unit or just the gears?

Don't worry....the guts of the rear end (ring and pinion, posi) fit any 4th gen V6 or V8 from 1993 up....if you have an open diff now it doesn't matter...the posi and gears will bolt right in..make sure and have a pro install it to get the pinion depth right and the backlash set correctly...new gears, shims, misc parts cost around $125 and the labor around $250-300...good luck...rp

oops, that was supposed to be bearings, shims, misc. cost around $125 a new ring and pinion will cost around $125 also but if you use the old ratio you have make sure the carrier is the correct one...or better yet, use the SS ring and pinion which is probably a 3.42
