there is a gasket for the filter, it it like a hollow cylinder w/ metal on the outside & rubber on the inside. Goes at the top of the tube for the filter where it meets the tranny.

How did you get the old one out? I changed the fluid in my mom's blazer & couldn't get the old filter gasket out (i ended up re-using it). I need to change my fluid, so how is it done? Tips? Tricks?

Also, how did you put in the new filter, I ended up hammering it in there on the blazer. Is that what you are supposed to do (I pushed HARD and it wouldn't go in).

Any tips or tricks in general are also welcome. Thanks!

Take a screwdriver and a hammer there should be a little slot on the driver side to wedge out the old gasket. Then thke the new filter and gasket at 90' angle push in and turn right. That should do it.

you have to be careful not to scratch the metal walls though, if you collapse half of the gasket with a screwdriver, then it will come out easily.

Becareful, in mine at least there is the gasket and another piece that helps connect it to the transmission, sort of like an O ring. I kept the old one in there, I heard its a PITA to get it out! Be forewarned!

I used a small seal puller. The puller has two metal "fingers" that reach into the hole where the seal is located. It is easy to use and helps prevent damage to the metal transmission case.
