Hey guys I was at SLPs web site the other night and came across a 2800 stall for the 4L60-E. I was wondering what you guys think about this stall and if anyone is running this in there car? My biggest question is what is the stall rating based on? I mean I know they state 2800 stall speed but at what torque and RPM range of the motor. I'm just curious about it because as you know if our motor doesn't make enough torque the stall rating will be lower. Thanks for the help guys. -Vic-

My guess is that it's based off of the LS1 or LT1. Besides, it won't fit. We use the 9.5".1998 Firebird 3800 Series II, A4
Direct-Flo Lid,K&N Filter,DEE TB Spacer,TPS-TEC,ZZP Mini-AFC,Raised and Cutout Airbox 7mm,BMR STB & Boxed LCAs,KYB AGX Shocks,Drilled/Slotted Rotors,180* Thermo,2.5\" Catco Cat,Dynomax 2.75\" custom catback,Kumho Ecstas/245,Jet Stage 2,3.42,Edge Racing 2870 Stall,B&M Tranny Cooler,B&M Deep Tranny Pan,LSD,AAM Girdle,1LE DS,NX Wet Kit,MSD DIS-4,MSD Blaster Coil Packs,Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Wires,NGK TR6\'S gapped .045,ZZP UD WP Pulley,SLP Fan Switch,TT II\'s
N/A: 15.6342 @ 88.44 (On stock converter. Ok so since this one wont fit where can I get one that will? I want a 2800 stall with lock-up. This is who I'm going with:
http://www.edgeracingconverters.com/
The same place that Only4U bought his from. I'm gonna buy the 9.5" Street Edge. A torque converter based off of my engine.
To be fair, there's also Precision Industries and Yank. That's where most of the guys with converters on this board buy theirs.
Oh, another thing. You might want to upgrade your gears and differential first. If you don't upgrade your diff., it'll render the torque converter useless.1998 Firebird 3800 Series II, A4
Direct-Flo Lid,K&N Filter,DEE TB Spacer,TPS-TEC,ZZP Mini-AFC,Raised and Cutout Airbox 7mm,BMR STB & Boxed LCAs,KYB AGX Shocks,Drilled/Slotted Rotors,180* Thermo,2.5\" Catco Cat,Dynomax 2.75\" custom catback,Kumho Ecstas/245,Jet Stage 2,3.42,Edge Racing 2870 Stall,B&M Tranny Cooler,B&M Deep Tranny Pan,LSD,AAM Girdle,1LE DS,NX Wet Kit,MSD DIS-4,MSD Blaster Coil Packs,Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Wires,NGK TR6\'S gapped .045,ZZP UD WP Pulley,SLP Fan Switch,TT II\'s
N/A: 15.6342 @ 88.44 (On stock converter. converter.cc as a comparison between the SLP (they make it) and their own (yank)
Its a fair converter, not exactly what I would put my money into...2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I run the pro yank 3200.
This is a nitrous converter from converter.cc
I paid $700 for mine.
Mine has a torque multiplication factor of 2.8 and an effeciency of 95.5 to 96%
I chose mine specifically for my car, its weight, gearing, dyno numbers, yada yada yada
With my weeney 323's I went from 2.3 60's to 1.9 60's and typical 15.3's to 14.5's with a best of 14.4
Sure I did some other mods but the converter really woke up the car.
Do a search and see what everyone says.Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
