  • Throwout bearing rattle and possible whine

My 96 camaro's throwout bearing rattles like there is no tomorrow when my clutch is engaged. I had my clutch replaced about 7 months ago due to a leaky slave cylinder that destropyed it, but I dont think they replaced the throwout bearing since it still rattled after I picked up my car.

Now the rattle is much worse and I have a very loud whine underneath the car when driving in gear. Can the throwout bearing whine like that? It also whines when I go to put it into a new gear...That made me think syncros, but I still think its the throwout bearing. Any help would be appreciated! 85K miles

I'm no expert, but I probably wouldn't drive the car anymore until the problem gets fixed. Might be the difference between an expensive repair and a VERY expensive repair.

Do you have the receipt from the shop who did the work 7 months ago? Usually clutches are sold as a kit with the throwout bearing, etc.
