  • How do you make tranny shift @ higher RPMS

My cousin has a v6 firebird where when he presses a button the car shifts towards the top of the powerband. I was wondering what this is called exactly and can you buy an aftermarket part to make your tranny do this? Thanks!

P.S. Also what exatly does a Stall Converter do?

Pontiacs have a "performance shift" mode that gives firmer shifts and i guess raises the shift points a little.. I have heard that all of the 4L60E trannys have this "option" but I havent heard of a chevy using it

Was this a popular option? I'd never heard of it, and my dads firebird surely doesn't have it. Just curious

That was on 2001 and lower Grand Prix GTP's with the 4T65-E. Trannies are the same on both f-cars.

Don't raise the shift points regardless...you won't see any higher rpm gain with the stock camshaft and you'll just float valves. Do a cam install, get some springs and comp pushrods then you can raise your WOT shift points.
